Lake Forest boasts stunning architecture, picturesque streets, excellent schools, beautiful ravines that makes it truly a wonderful place to live. For recreation, residents have access to the town's 423 acres of playing fields, tennis courts and wildlife areas, as well as two public recreation centers. Lake Forest contains a 133-acre, 18-hole public golf course and three private golf courses. Forest Park Beach on Lake Michigan has a boat launching area, visitors and residents are treated to the Lake Forest Symphony or the Camerata Singers of Lake Forest, or can shop in the famed Market Square shopping district. Built in 1916 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Market Square was designed by famed architect Howard Van Doren Shaw, and contains a variety of small shops and larger stores.
